EFFC/DFI Derin Temeller İçin Tremi Betonu Rehberi

This is the 2nd edition guide for June 2018 providing authoritative guidance on the placement and testing of tremie concrete in deep foundations.

It is intended that the guide is used by contractors and concrete suppliers to improve the quality of concrete used in deep foundations. Historically there has been limited research and understanding about how concrete behaves in the ground, which has led to problems onsite as concrete mixes became more complex with the addition of admixtures, additives, aggregates etc.

The new edition incorporates field studies of concrete taken from construction sites in Europe and the US to provide an empirical testing criteria for the acceptability of fresh concrete. The guide’s data has been collected by the Technical University of Munich and the Missouri University, using an agreed methodology that includes a range of onsite and laboratory testing.

The guide now has recommendations on which tests should be used to determine the workability of the concrete. This is particularly useful on site, where construction teams can determine with a high degree of accuracy whether the concrete will work as intended within the pile or diaphragm wall.

In addition, the Guide incorporates work that numerically models the behavior of concrete when it is poured into an excavation. This is a new area of research which provides new insight into what is occurring during the tremie operation.

The Guide is a collaboration between the DFI in the US and the EFFC, and is a piece of work that is intended to benefit the global deep foundations industry.

Karbon Azaltımına Odaklanan Yeni Sürdürülebilirlik Rehberi-2. Baskı 2024

This guide focuses on carbon reduction to address Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Renewable and Clean Energy). The guide uses a “what, why, how, measure” approach to sustainability: ■ What - What is this specific Sustainable Development Goal? What impacts do geotechnical companies have on this goal? ■ Why - Why does this area of sustainability matter to geotechnical companies? Why would geotechnical companies bother to improve this area of sustainability? ■ How - How can geotechnical companies reduce their impact and move to have a positive impact on this area of sustainability? This is broken down into the following areas: ■ Design ■ Materials ■ Procurement ■ Transport ■ Site ■ Electricity ■ Measure - What metrics can geotechnical companies use to measure their progress and set targets on this area of sustainability? The guide can be used as a reference manual. For example, if the reader is focused on reducing the embodied carbon of the materials needed for their geotechnical solution, they can go directly to the “Materials” section and find key ways to decarbonize materials.

The EFFC and DFI have published their 3rd edition of the Guide to Tremie Concrete for Deep Foundations. It can be found here. This edition has introduced new insights and research from the task group and our academic partners on subjects such as: • Options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions • Strengthening recommendations regarding acceptance criteria for testing • Interesting new findings from numerical modelling The Guide continues to be an essential reference for everyone working with Tremies on deep foundation works. It provides definitive values and acceptance criteria for the workability of concrete when carrying out its recommended site tests. Its use should support contractors, clients and consultants to avoid quality issues that can result from the workability of the concrete varying from the correct specification.

EFFC/DFI Guide to Working Platforms, 2nd Edition The EFFC/DFI Guide to Working Platforms pools the experiences from across the membership of the EFFC and DFI to increase awareness of what has been achieved in the management of working platforms. Working platforms are used by everyone that accesses a site, so the considerations highlighted in this document apply equally to all those involved. A properly designed and installed working platform benefits all and will enhance the efficient working of a site as well as ensuring a safe environment. It is hoped that this document will provide a stimulus for how this important aspect of how we work is tackled by our industry and outline some possible tools for implementation.
